Australian Spatial Data Directory

What is the ASDD?

The Australian Spatial Data Directory (ASDD) is a national initiative supported by all governments under the auspices of ANZLIC – the Spatial Information Council. The ASDD aims to improve access to Australian spatial data for industry, government, education and the general community through effective documentation, advertisement and distribution. The directory comprises government and commercial nodes in each State/Territory and spatial data agencies within Australian Government.


What is listed on the AHS node of the ASDD?

The Australian Hydrographic Service (AHS) currently participates as a node of the ASDD by supplying Product, Source & Publication Australian Chart Meta Data.

 

AHS Product Meta Data

Australian Hydrographic Service Product Meta Data lists details about current paper and electronic charts including geographical coverage, data currency, data quality and available format types (for example hard copy printed paper charts, raster HCRF V2, raster GeoTIFF V1, vector S57 etc).

Details about specific paper and electronic charts can also be found by searching the Australian Chart Index.

AHS Source Meta Data

Australian Hydrographic Service Source Meta Data lists details about Royal Australian Navy hydrographic survey data that that is available from the national hydrographic data collection under a licensing agreement. Details include geographical coverage, data currency, data quality and available format types (for example hard copy paper fairsheets and digital GeoTIFF, TIFF, HTF etc). Data can be made available at a scale of 1:25,000 or smaller and available data formats are dependent on the age of the original survey.

AHS Publication Meta Data

Australian Hydrographic Service Publication Meta Data lists details about nautical publications produced by the Australian Hydrographic Service. These publications are produced to be used in conjunction with navigational chart products.

How do I search the ASDD?

To search the ASDD it is recommended that you use the ASDD Gateway to conduct a search of our ASDD Node. However you can also browse our Meta Data locally at http://www.hydro.gov.au/asdd/.
